Original Work – Acrylic on Canvas – 76cm x 76cm
This series celebrates my joy at painting freely in a way I hadn’t done since early childhood. I had just returned from a painting retreat with Flora Bowley and fifteen other wonderful creative women. I was inspired by the spirit of Bali, the religious statues and little offerings that littered the streets, the rain, the damp and the musky, smoky smell of the air. I had let go of perfectionism, expectation and outcome: creation was flowing through me. This series revels in the sensuous pleasures of bright colour, and the tactile qualities of dripping paint. The lotus represents a soulful unfolding and beauty arising from the mud.
