Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary in the Kimberley, Western Australia is a haven for birds and birdwatchers who are drawn there on the hope of seeing the rare Gouldian Finch. Excluding feral animals has restored the vegetation to a lushness not often seen in that part of the world. One evening on a walk before dinner I was struck by the beauty of the light through the trees. While walking I also spotted a spinifex bronze wing pigeon, red backed fairy wrens and a startled wallaroo.
